Who we are
Huntington Solar Co is a solar company serving the north shore of Suffolk County — residential solar installation, battery storage, and the design, permitting, and PSEG Long Island interconnection work that goes with them.
We started doing solar on Long Island because the math here is the most compelling in the country: LIPA rates are roughly 2x the national average, federal and NY State incentives stack to ~50% of system cost, and PSEG net-metering means every kWh you produce offsets one at full retail rate. Solar on a north-shore home pays itself off in 5-7 years on average and runs another 20 on warranty after that.
How we work
Every install starts with a site assessment and an honest payback model. The math — system size, projected production, gross + net cost after all incentives, year-by-year cash flow, payback period — goes to you in writing. No salesperson in your living room. If the economics don't work for your situation, we tell you upfront and don't push.
Permit pulls, PSEG interconnection forms, and incentive applications — NYSERDA, federal ITC paperwork, the NY State residential solar credit, PSEG demand-response for a battery pairing — are part of the install scope rather than homework for the homeowner.
Equipment selection
No single manufacturer covers every roof well. Tesla, Enphase, Q Cells, REC, SolarEdge, FranklinWH — hardware should be specified against the roof, the shade pattern, the existing inverter, and the budget, not against a manufacturer relationship. When you compare quotes from any Long Island installer, it is worth asking why the specific panel and inverter were chosen for your roof.
